Newport Fitness member, Bob Fite, made a health transformation goal of losing over 50 lbs. within a year. In about four months, he surpassed that goal and hasn’t looked back.
On September 1, 2018, Fite was the heaviest he’d ever been and decided to stop making excuses for himself.
“I allowed my laziness and apathy to overpower my desire to do what I knew was right concerning my physical self,” Fite says. “This was an incredibly selfish way to approach my health.”
Family is incredibly important to Fite. They were his main motivation for his health transformation and he wants to spend as much time with them as possible.
“I didn’t want my poor lifestyle to be the thing that could potentially lead to not being able to see my nieces and nephew grow up, spend quality time with my lovely mother or just enjoying time with my siblings,” Fite says.
By conducting a thorough internet search of local CrossFit gyms, Fite found Newport Fitness. Fite was intrigued by Em’s Fitcamp and completed two consecutive Em’s Fitcamp 6 Week Weight Loss Challenges, on September 24th and November 5th. Before completing the Em’s Fitcamp 6 Week Weightloss Challenge, Fite had never worked out or intentionally dieted. He says the combination of Em’s Fitcamp classes and the structured nutrition plan it provides has been crucial to his success.
“Both were a big challenge for me to adjust to, but I don’t think I could be successful without one or the other,” Fite says. “The modified workouts and patience of all the instructors in the (Em’s) Fitcamp classes have been extremely beneficial.”
As a man of strong religious faith, Fite tries to live by the Bible verse Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord.” For him, it is a call to do everything to the best of my ability, including supporting my family and friends, the work that I do for a career and now even going to the gym,” Fite says. “This verse has been something that has kept me motivated and reminded me to keep showing up and keep pushing even though I am sore, tired, or just don’t want to be there.”
Fite hopes to extend his new healthy lifestyle. In addition to attending his usual four to six Em’s Fitcamp classes per week, he plans to run a 10K Terrain Race in March and his first half marathon this spring.
“Newport Fitness has been a huge blessing in my life and I am forever thankful for your efforts, support, and encouragement over the past few months.”
